Consultant ENT (Otolaryngology)

Role Overview

The Consultant in Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specializes in delivering expert care for ENT disorders across both physical clinics and digital platforms. This role entails thorough patient evaluation, precise diagnosis, formulation of treatment plans, and follow-up management of acute and chronic ENT issues, ensuring adherence to evidence-based clinical standards. The consultant aims to provide patient-focused care and advance quality and safety in ENT services at Bupa CareConnect.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed ENT evaluations through face-to-face and virtual consultations.
• Utilize evidence-based approaches for diagnosing a wide range of ENT diseases and conditions.
• Analyze diagnostic imaging, laboratory data, and audiological/vestibular test results for comprehensive assessment.
• Arrange necessary referrals and advanced diagnostic procedures when indicated.
• Ensure meticulous and timely documentation within electronic medical records (EMR).
• Create and implement individualized, evidence-based management and follow-up strategies.
• Provide both medical and procedural treatment options for various ENT conditions, adapting plans based on patient progress.
• Educate patients on their conditions, promoting preventive care and adherence.
• Coordinate care effectively between physical and digital healthcare settings to maintain continuity.
• Adhere strictly to clinical governance, telemedicine regulations, and patient safety policies.
• Comply with institutional protocols and international ENT guidelines.
• Engage in quality improvement efforts, including audits and peer reviews, managing clinical incidents appropriately.
• Support compliance with healthcare accreditation standards like CBAHI, JCI, and SCFHS.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across specialties such as internal medicine and radiology.
• Facilitate referrals and maintain continuity with internal and external specialists, contributing to multidisciplinary team discussions.
• Provide specialist advice, second opinions, and guidance to other healthcare professionals.
• Deliver empathetic, patient-centered care addressing patient concerns clearly and promptly.
• Promote patient engagement and education to improve health outcomes and satisfaction metrics like Net Promoter Scores (NPS).
• Maintain active licensing with SCFHS and fulfill continuous medical education requirements.
• Remain current on advances in ENT surgical and clinical practices.
• Mentor junior clinicians and assist in their professional growth.
• Contribute strategically to the development and operational objectives of the ENT department.

Required Competencies and Skills

• Expertise in ENT diagnostic procedures including endoscopy, audiometry, and vestibular assessments.
• Competence in managing acute and chronic ENT diseases through medical and procedural interventions.
• Experience practicing ENT medicine in both outpatient clinics and telemedicine environments.
• Proficient with electronic medical record systems and digital health platforms.
• Strong decision-making based on international ENT clinical guidelines.
• Leadership and capacity to mentor junior medical staff effectively.
• Excellent communication skills facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Dedication to advancing quality, patient safety, and delivering patient-centric care.
• Ability to operate in dynamic, multidisciplinary healthcare settings.
• Fluency in both Arabic and English languages.

Educational Background

Medical degree in Medicine and Surgery is required.
