About the Role
Hind Management is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Chef de Partie to become part of the kitchen team at Sudima Auckland Airport. This position suits someone who brings strong culinary creativity, takes pride in guest satisfaction, and can work confidently across a range of cuisine styles.
The kitchen supports room service, buffet breakfast, à la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner at Visaya restaurant, along with conference, event, and banquet-style service. The role requires someone comfortable handling varied culinary tasks, maintaining high presentation standards, and supporting food cost control while working closely with a collaborative team.
This is a permanent full-time position based at Sudima Auckland Airport. The roster is rotational, with a minimum of 30 hours per week, and the pay rate is $30.28 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present dishes that meet brand and quality standards for restaurant, bar, conferencing, and room service operations.
- Manage shift setup, order placement, prep completion, and general kitchen readiness, cleanliness, and hygiene.
- Assist the Head Chef and, when needed, provide guidance to junior kitchen staff.
- Adapt to dietary requirements while maintaining strong food safety and hygiene practices.
- Promote a respectful, cooperative team culture in the kitchen.
- Assist with menu planning, food and labour cost estimation, and ordering supplies.
- Check the quality of food throughout preparation and plating.
- Work with managers, dietitians, and front-of-house and kitchen staff on food preparation matters.
- Demonstrate cooking methods and provide advice on preparation techniques.
- Cook and assemble food items as required.
- Explain and uphold hygiene requirements and sanitation rules.
- May be involved in staff selection and training.
- May also freeze and preserve food products.
Requirements
Applicants should bring a positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a busy professional kitchen. The role may accept three years of relevant experience in place of formal qualifications in some cases, and on-the-job learning may also be considered alongside qualifications.
- NZQF Diploma or an equivalent qualification at ANZSCO Skill Level 2.
- Prior experience working in a high-volume kitchen environment.
- Strong planning and organisational ability, with the capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks, stay flexible, meet deadlines, and perform well under pressure.
- Availability to work rostered shifts, including weekends, late nights, and public holidays.
- Practical experience using a variety of kitchen equipment such as grillers and pasta makers.
- Calm approach, good time management, and ability to handle varied responsibilities.
- Understanding of sanitation and food hygiene regulations.
- Must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
