About the Role

The Category Development Analyst will contribute vital analytical support to the National Accounts team by generating key sales insights and strategic solutions tailored for Breakthru Beverage Group’s principal retailers. This role focuses on interpreting shopper and retail data from multiple sources—including internal data, customer point-of-sale systems, consumer panels, and syndicated information—to develop actionable strategies and tactics. The analyst will also utilize insights to optimize product assortment, placement, and promotional efforts, while aiding planning and forecasting for essential suppliers and core customers.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Business Intelligence team to harness syndicated and shopper data, creating a leading-edge customer analytics platform.
Conduct analyses aligned with the National Accounts Team’s strategic priorities and goals.
Partner closely with National Accounts team members and market-level leaders to ensure alignment of analysis initiatives.
Perform descriptive and predictive analyses on sales velocity, pricing, promotions, distribution, and consumer trends for assigned accounts, effectively communicating insights to stakeholders across the National Accounts value chain.
Lead reporting efforts of business results in assigned retail accounts, maintaining ownership of reporting dashboards, scorecards, and other structured business communications.
Apply foundational analytical methods to craft compelling sales narratives and produce impactful presentations with supporting visual analytics.
Manage internal account and product alignment, segmentation accuracy, and data integrity for assigned customers.
Execute any additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in data analysis, data science, business administration, economics, statistics, computer science, or related fields, or equivalent practical experience.
At least two years in an analytical role involving report creation and problem-solving.
Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant computer applications, including presentation tools.
Familiarity with syndicated and retail POS data platforms such as Nielsen, CGA, IRI, Datassential, Technomic, Target Partners Online, Walmart Retail Link, and others; experience with syndicated shopper panel and depletion data is preferred.
Strong customer-first mindset with excellent verbal and written communication skills, applying diplomacy and discretion.
Ability to juggle multiple priorities, work independently or collaboratively, maintain meticulous attention to detail, and meet deadlines.
Competence in analytics and reporting alongside sound judgement and problem-solving capabilities.
Adaptability to fast-paced, high-volume team settings.
Skill in converting complex raw data into actionable business information.

Preferred Experience

Experience using PowerBI for data analysis and visualization.
Three years of industry experience within the liquor sector.
Market-specific knowledge and category management expertise.

Physical Requirements

This role frequently involves standing and sitting, talking and hearing, and using hands and fingers to operate computers and telephones.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $60,000 to $75,000 annually, based on internal equity, market data, skills, and relevant experience.
Eligibility for participation in an annual bonus program with metrics and participation levels determined yearly.
