Cashier

Overview

This role involves performing cashier duties at a physical location. Candidates do not require prior experience as training is provided. English language proficiency and completion of secondary school are necessary requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate the cash register efficiently
• Process payments including cash, cheques, and credit/debit cards
• Scan merchandise accurately
• Calculate total charges and receive payments for goods and services
• Reconcile daily or shift payments against total sales
• Engage in suggestive selling to enhance customer purchases
• Stock shelves and maintain cleanliness of the checkout area
• Welcome and greet customers
• Bag or wrap purchased items
• Deliver customer service with professionalism
• Handle foreign currency exchange calculations
• Participate in promotional events and activities
• Check customer age for restricted products such as lottery tickets, alcohol, or tobacco
