Job description
Overview
ABI Rehabilitation, a prominent brain injury service provider in New Zealand’s North Island, is looking for a qualified Brain Injury Nurse Specialist to join their team part-time, based preferably in Palmerston North. This role involves approximately 24 hours of work per week and focuses on supporting patients with moderate to severe acquired brain injuries.
Key Responsibilities
The primary duties include patient assessment and coordination of services to facilitate timely transitions from hospital to intensive rehabilitation. The role also entails providing information and ongoing support to patients' family-whānau, collaborating with ABI intensive rehabilitation teams, and offering expert consultation to hospital staff.
This position requires frequent travel across regional hospitals in central and lower North Island regions and suits candidates with flexible schedules. Building strong relationships with hospital personnel and proactively ensuring the best outcomes for clients are essential aspects of this position.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a neurological nursing area such as Neurosurgery, Stroke, or Assessment, Treatment & Rehabilitation (AT&R).
- Current Registered Nurse Annual Practicing Certificate.
- Advanced skills in clinical assessment and reasoning.
- Postgraduate qualifications are preferred.
- Proven expertise in managing interpersonal relations across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational capabilities and effective time management.
