This position is located within the front office, operating on an active trading floor. The primary responsibility is trading Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) rates products, overseeing risk, and ensuring liquidity provision to corporate and institutional clients. The role includes market making activities and close cooperation with the Sales team to offer client solutions and bolster revenue generation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Specialize as an HKD Rates Trader to enhance and expand the FICC Rates Trading presence in Asia, particularly Singapore and Hong Kong.
- Engage in trading and market making of HKD interest rate instruments, delivering liquidity and driving trading profits.
- Manage and control risks on the trading book, including positioning, hedging techniques, and maintaining exposure according to prevailing market conditions.
- Collaborate closely with the Sales division to cultivate client relationships, propose trade ideas, and carry out client-driven transactions.
- Support the growth of the local markets franchise by increasing market share and strengthening client interaction.
- Utilize technology and analytics to refine pricing accuracy, hedging tactics, and the execution of trades.
- Develop comprehensive insights regarding macroeconomic influences, rates market shifts, and cross-asset effects, focusing on Hong Kong and USD-linked markets.
- Continuously observe market developments, liquidity, and client flows to forecast trends and seize trading opportunities.
- Work in alignment with global trading teams to synchronize positioning, risk assessment, and market outlooks.
- Maintain decisive judgment under pressure while upholding discipline across changing market scenarios.
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
- At least 3 years of professional experience in Asia Rates Trading, Hong Kong Treasury, or HKD Foreign Exchange markets.
- Expertise in interest rate products such as swaps, forwards, government bonds, and associated derivatives.
- Demonstrated competence in managing risk, market pricing, and executing trades in a high-speed trading environment.
- Deep understanding of the HKD market framework, liquidity factors, and connections to global rates, including the US dollar interest rates.
- Strong analytical capabilities combined with excellent trading intuition and sound judgment.
- Ability to communicate market trends, macroeconomic drivers, and relative value prospects articulately.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively liaise with Sales, Structuring, and international trading teams.
- Capacity to perform proficiently under market volatility and pressure, making well-informed decisions.
