Job description
Position Overview
This position serves as the key advocate for local sourcing initiatives, focusing on discovering, evaluating, and promoting local suppliers to internal teams in the consumer electronics sector. The role requires leading the development process and ensuring adherence to procurement compliance policies across countries. Collaboration with headquarters, regional offices, and global factories is essential. This is an individual contributor role.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and compile a database of prospective Singapore-based companies suitable for consumer electronics supply.
- Assess potential suppliers against internal standards to determine suitability.
- Support supplier evaluations aligned with global procurement strategies.
- Analyze technological advancement and niche skills of local companies, including advanced manufacturing, precision engineering, materials, and sensors.
- Identify opportunities for collaborative innovation projects between internal engineering teams and suppliers.
- Champion qualified local suppliers by promoting their value and facilitating engagement with R&D, NPI, and global procurement departments.
- Bridge communications between potential suppliers and internal teams through technical discussions, pilot projects, and factory audits.
- Address internal challenges by building compelling business cases to include local suppliers in the Approved Vendor List.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering disciplines such as Electronics, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic sourcing, supplier development, procurement, or NPI technology within consumer electronics or high-tech manufacturing sectors.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with success in achieving cross-functional alignment among R&D, Quality, and Procurement teams.
- Capability to evaluate electronic components, manufacturing technologies, and engineering competencies.
- Knowledge of Singapore's manufacturing ecosystem and technology capabilities is advantageous.
- Familiarity with SAP and Tableau is a plus, alongside advanced proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to work collaboratively in teams.
