About the Role
Starbucks is inviting passionate leaders to join their team as Assistant Managers at their Blackburn, Scotland location. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to Starbucks' future by taking leadership responsibilities in a vibrant retail environment. Assistant Managers are empowered to drive excellent commercial outcomes and ensure memorable customer experiences by managing operational standards, partner engagement, and key performance indicators.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead shifts focusing on commercial goals and delivering exceptional customer experiences while supporting and enabling every team member's success.
- Take ownership of critical KPIs such as labour efficiency, waste reduction, and sales performance.
- Ensure shift staffing aligns with planned roles and routines, making adjustments to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Monitor partner performance, providing constructive coaching and feedback.
- Celebrate partner achievements during and after shifts to promote a positive work culture.
- Serve as the store's duty manager during assigned shifts, accountable for all operational and partner-related decisions.
- Maintain consistent adherence to brand and operational standards across all shifts.
- Utilize financial and operational data to make well-informed decisions aimed at improving shift outcomes.
- Train and mentor partners to ensure consistent quality, efficiency, and excellent service delivery.
- Lead the implementation of new initiatives and product launches within the store.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, food safety, and security regulations.
Work Schedule
Working hours may vary and include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, and holiday shifts due to the nature of the retail environment.
Training & Development
All retail store partners begin their career journey with an introductory training program conducted by experienced in-store trainers and coaches. This program immerses new partners in Starbucks culture and equips them for success, combining on-the-job learning with managerial support. Additionally, partners have access to comprehensive training, including coffee knowledge, and Starbucks Global Academy, an online learning platform for continuous development.
Qualifications & Experience
Successful candidates will have prior leadership experience in a dynamic, fast-paced retail or hospitality setting with strong customer focus. Candidates must demonstrate commercial insight by translating metrics into actionable strategies and confidently manage both people and operational demands.
