Role Overview

The Assistant Management Accountant will provide essential support to the Finance department by producing precise and timely financial data, assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting to guide commercial decisions. Collaboration with various departments is key to ensuring robust financial controls and compliance standards are adhered to.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including analyzing variances and providing commentary.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting by coordinating with operational teams to collect necessary data.
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts to guarantee accuracy and completeness.
• Generate and interpret key financial reports to deliver insights into company performance.
• Support monitoring and controlling costs aligned with company goals and retail industry benchmarks.
• Contribute to the preparation of financial documentation for internal and external audits.
• Collaborate with the finance team to enhance processes and promote automation within accounting functions.
• Assist with VAT filings and other statutory compliance requirements as needed.
• Participate in ad hoc financial projects and continuous business improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

• Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or actively pursuing a professional accounting qualification.
• Demonstrable experience in management accounting, ideally within retail or a similar sector.
• Strong grasp of accounting principles, financial control measures, and reporting standards.
• Advanced Excel proficiency; familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems is beneficial.
• Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communicator with confidence in cross-departmental liaison.
• Organised and proactive, capable of managing various priorities and meeting deadlines.
