Assistant Buyer - Womenswear Jersey

Overview

We are looking for an Assistant Buyer to join the Womenswear Jersey team, supporting the product development and selection of Jersey Basics and Fancy Jersey ranges. This role focuses on enhancing sales and profitability through a customer-centric assortment that embodies the COS aesthetic. Close collaboration with teams including Buying, Design, Pattern, Production, Materials, and Supply Chain is essential to secure timely, cost-effective, quality orders that contribute to department growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and analyze the product assortment, quantity, and sales performance within the department, recommending actions based on current business needs and sales data.
• Help optimize sales and profitability by ensuring orders and replacements adhere to set timelines.
• Monitor consumer trends and external influences affecting the department’s customers.
• Coordinate day-to-day team organization and manage sample flow and handling.
• Conduct competitor research regularly, sharing insights to maintain competitive pricing and value for customers.
• Communicate effectively with the production office regarding product development and order management to meet deadlines.
• Assist in driving complete product development cycles alongside the buyer, aligning with department margin targets.
• Prepare and support fittings by organizing agendas and ensuring sample availability in appropriate quantities and timing.
• Maintain the sample wardrobe, ensuring all samples are organized and kept in good condition.
• Initiate orders and manage order updates appropriately.

Qualifications and Skills

• Previous experience as an Assistant Buyer or Senior Buying Admin Assistant in womenswear is required; experience with jersey fabrics is preferred.
• Strong understanding of product development and experience collaborating with in-house design and cross-functional teams.
• A commercial mindset with strong analytical capabilities and proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools.
• Deep knowledge of market trends, competitor activity, and customer preferences, complemented by a passion for modern fashion and design.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a cooperative working style.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Authentic enthusiasm for the COS brand and a dedication to sourcing the best products for customers.

Additional Details

This permanent, full-time position is based at the Head Office in London, requiring presence five days a week.
