Job description
Role Overview
This position involves comprehensive oversight of accounting entries, controls enforcement, reconciliation tasks, and financial reporting activities in alignment with IFRS and local accounting standards. The Analyst will ensure data quality in ledgers, support audit processes, manage month-end substantiations, and contribute to performance steering and control monitoring functions for multiple entities within BNP Paribas.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit and review daily and monthly accounting entries such as accruals and provisions.
- Maintain ledger accuracy and enforce data quality controls.
- Conduct reconciliations between source data and general ledger, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Analyze account transactions and perform variance analysis, highlighting trends and addressing queries.
- Manage intercompany reconciliations and support transfer pricing documentation.
- Execute month-end postings and update system parameters and mapping tables.
- Create financial disclosures, particularly Fixed Income reporting compliant with IFRS 13 standards.
- Assist with external and internal audit requests, escalating issues as needed for timely resolution.
- Monitor and report on accounting controls and key risk indicators through the Entity Control Reports.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and supporting schedules under IFRS and FGAAP.
- Collaborate with performance managers to ensure financial data accuracy and consistency across statutory and management accounting.
- Lead business partnering activities with management for monthly performance reviews and ad hoc reporting.
- Contribute to finance projects aimed at improving reporting standards and processes.
Technical and Behavioral Competencies
- Strong understanding of banking products and Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) services.
- Basic proficiency in financial and management accounting principles and IFRS standards.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel (including pivot tables, formulas, charts, power query) and MS PowerPoint.
- Analytical thinking, strategic anticipation, and process adaptation capabilities.
- Effective communication skills, creativity in problem solving, and critical thinking.
- Ability to synthesize complex information and exhibit adaptability in a dynamic environment.
Additional Information
- This is a full-time, onsite role based in Mumbai, India.
- Educational qualification: Chartered Accountant fresher is preferred.
- Salary range: 400000 to 900000 INR annually.
- Supporting both the Controls and Financial Reporting departments, the role requires coordination with regional teams and senior management.
- Experience in performing entity accounting controls, preparing audit documentation, and facilitating accurate financial disclosures is critical.
