Job Overview
The A/C Technician plays a critical role in the installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC, refrigeration, ventilation, and chilled water systems across the hotel's premises. This includes guest rooms, public spaces, dining areas, event venues, back-of-house sections, and essential mechanical infrastructure. Ensuring all systems function safely, efficiently, and effectively contributes to exceptional guest comfort and energy sustainability in a luxury hospitality setting.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct scheduled preventive upkeep activities for HVAC, refrigeration, ventilation, and chilled water installations, including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting parts.
- Replace components such as filters, belts, motors, thermostats, valves, and bearings to maintain equipment reliability.
- Keep precise records detailing preventive maintenance and equipment service history.
- Identify and rectify malfunctions in air conditioning units, refrigeration systems, ventilation fans, FCUs, AHUs, package and split systems, pumps, and their controls.
- Respond swiftly to maintenance requests from guest rooms and operational areas, minimizing downtime through effective troubleshooting and repairs.
- Ensure guest rooms have stable, efficient, and quiet air conditioning and ventilation to maintain ideal temperature and humidity levels.
- Manage plant room operations by monitoring chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and heat exchangers, documenting performance data and assisting with start-ups, shutdowns, and seasonal maintenance.
- Contribute to energy-saving initiatives by monitoring system performance, recommending upgrades, and supporting the hotel's sustainability goals.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety protocols, complying with building codes and environmental laws, particularly in refrigerant handling, and using personal protective equipment at all times.
- Maintain detailed logs for maintenance activities, equipment inspections, work orders, and spare parts inventory; identify recurring issues and suggest corrective measures.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams and other departments to support banquet, conference, and special event operations by ensuring HVAC systems are fully operational.
- Participate in emergency response tasks and provide technical standby support when required.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a diploma or technical certification in HVAC, air conditioning, refrigeration, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Hold a valid HVAC or refrigeration license or certification, as mandated by local regulations.
- Have at least three years of hands-on experience maintaining HVAC systems, preferably in luxury hospitality, healthcare, or large commercial environments.
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) is advantageous.
