Role Summary

The Welfare Officer is a mandated role within a coal mining environment, aimed at nurturing a positive relationship between the workforce and management. The officer addresses employee grievances, facilitates welfare initiatives, manages leave-related processes, and champions efforts to uplift workers' welfare and living conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate open and effective communication between management and employees to foster harmonious workplace relations.
  • Identify and report both individual and group employee grievances to management for timely resolution.
  • Enhance productivity and workplace conditions by assisting employee adjustment to job environments.
  • Support the formation and oversight of Works, Joint Production Committees, Co-operative Societies, and Safety and Welfare Committees.
  • Guide committee activities and encourage active employee engagement in welfare and safety programs.
  • Assist management in overseeing leave with wages policies, ensuring employees understand their leave rights and application procedures.
  • Provide support in handling authorized absences effectively and resolving related worker concerns.
  • Advise on welfare provisions including housing, nutrition, social, recreational facilities, sanitation, and education for employees' children.
  • Supervise employee education and training to meet statutory and company standards.
  • Propose and help implement improvements to enhance workers’ living standards and well-being.
  • Document daily welfare activities and produce annual welfare reports for the Chief Inspector via the mine manager.
  • Ensure strict adherence to statutory welfare obligations and promote ongoing welfare enhancements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement digital tools that support business goals and improve team efficiency.
