Job Overview
The Welder II plays a vital role in the fabrication, assembly, and welding of metal components primarily for the oil and gas sector. The role demands proficient welding skills, meticulous attention to detail, and strict adherence to safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Uphold the highest corporate ethics and comply fully with all company security, compliance, health, safety, and environmental policies, as well as applicable laws and industry standards.
- Prioritize quality, safety, security, and environmental protection, ensuring no risk to employees, processes, customers, or surrounding communities.
- Pursue continuous improvement in health, safety, security, and environmental practices by integrating industry best practices and stakeholder inputs.
- Exhibit leadership in safety protocols and documentation, especially by supervisors and managers overseeing personnel and visitors.
- Be well-versed in company quality policies, actively participating in maintaining and enhancing the management system.
- Deliver welding services with an emphasis on quality across all business sectors, seeking improvements proactively.
- Execute welding operations using MIG, TIG, and Stick welding methods according to engineering instructions and standards.
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and welding symbols accurately for precise welding execution.
- Inspect completed welds to verify compliance with quality standards.
- Maintain and operate welding equipment, performing inspections, troubleshooting, and minor repairs when necessary.
- Work collaboratively with engineers and fabricators to ensure project completion and communication flow.
- Follow safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a tidy work environment to enhance safety and efficiency.
- Manage welding consumables inventory to ensure availability and control.
- Engage in ongoing training and keep updated with advances in welding technology.
- Communicate effectively with all relevant internal and, when appropriate, external stakeholders.
- Exercise financial responsibility by adhering to budgets and relevant financial policies.
- Commit to personal career growth through continuous training and performance discussions.
- Support talent management processes under supervisory roles to maintain a high-performing team culture.
- Demonstrate leadership and ethical conduct consistently while representing company standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational or technical welding education is preferred.
- Have a minimum of three years experience working as a Level 2 Welder in an oil and gas machine shop or a related environment.
- Hold welding certifications such as AWS or their equivalent.
- Exhibit proficiency in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
- Capable of reading and interpreting technical drawings and welding symbols accurately.
- Possess detailed knowledge of metallurgy, materials, welding codes, and industry standards pertinent to oil and gas.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and capability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with a strong dedication to safety and hazard prevention.
Additional Information
- Travel requirements include up to 10% domestic and possible international travel.
