Job description
Role Overview
Food Surplus Management (FSM) seeks a dedicated Transport Coordinator to oversee nationwide food surplus collection activities. This on-site, full-time role primarily operates Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend or bank holiday shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage transport routes targeting specific customers or regions.
- Ensure collections and deliveries occur on schedule and as planned.
- Maintain clear communication with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
- Address operational changes promptly and resolve delivery or collection issues.
- Keep detailed records of transport activities and customer data.
- Generate monthly transport performance reports for the Accounts department.
- Consistently provide exceptional customer service.
- Identify and suggest improvements for route efficiency, operational processes, and fleet utilization.
- Assist the Transport Manager in evolving transport strategies and operations.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of three years’ experience coordinating or planning transport logistics.
- Working knowledge of transport laws and regulations.
- Highly organized with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Capable of prioritizing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable using transport management or planning software and basic computer applications.
- Positive, adaptable, and collaborative team player.
- Self-motivated with the ability to perform well under pressure.
- Qualifications in logistics, transport management, or a related field are preferred.
- Transport Manager CPC certification is a plus but not mandatory.
