Job Purpose

The Direct Tax Compliance Team Member plays a critical role in supporting tax functions by assisting with preparing and filing tax returns, maintaining compliance records, and aiding in audits and regulatory examinations. This position ensures thorough documentation and operational compliance, thus facilitating adherence to applicable tax laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help prepare and file direct tax returns for business units accurately and timely.
  • Support the reconciliation process of tax provisions and payment records.
  • Respond to routine tax authority inquiries and ensure all documents are precise and complete.
  • Organize and maintain compliance documentation to support audits and reviews.
  • Prepare and assist in compiling reports and summaries for both internal management and external stakeholders.
  • Provide assistance in managing litigation processes, including preparing responses to notices and collating documentation for disputes and hearings.
  • Track litigation cases meticulously, maintaining updated records of progress and outcomes.
  • Identify shortcomings in compliance workflows and propose improvements to senior staff.
  • Support the rollout and monitoring of compliance process enhancements.
  • Keep abreast of updates to direct tax laws and compliance standards through regular training and self-learning.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams (e.g., Business Finance, CEO office, Internal Audit) and external entities (e.g., tax consultants, government tax authorities, external auditors) to resolve compliance matters.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance is required; Chartered Accountant qualification is preferred.
  • 2 to 7 years of professional experience in tax compliance roles, preferably within Big Four firms or large corporate tax departments.
