Survey Technician

Role Overview

This position involves preparing, maintaining, and updating survey models, set out data, and GPS files. The technician will manage and upload survey data across various instruments and machine control systems, ensuring coordination of survey set out activities to support construction operations and project delivery. Reviewing drawings and specifications to verify survey accuracy and adherence to project standards is an essential task, along with maintaining equipment registers and updating related software. Providing precise survey information and technical support to project teams is vital, alongside ensuring all survey processes meet project specifications and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, maintain, and update survey models, set out data, and GPS files for project use.
• Upload and administer survey data across survey instruments and machinery control technologies.
• Coordinate survey set outs to facilitate construction activities and ensure timely project progression.
• Examine drawings and specifications to confirm survey accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Maintain registers for survey equipment and perform necessary software updates.
• Support project teams by delivering reliable survey data and technical assistance.
• Ensure all survey tasks comply with project requirements and quality standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven experience as a Survey Technician within the civil construction sector.
• Possession of or progress towards a qualification in Surveying, Spatial Science, or a related field.
• Proficient in the use of GPS survey devices and machine control technologies.
• Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and strong planning capabilities.
• Ability to function independently and collaborate effectively within project teams.
• Holding a current Australian Driver Licence is mandatory.
