Overview

This role is designed for undergraduate or graduate students pursuing degrees in Computer Science or related technical disciplines to engage in research projects aligned with Google's priorities. The opportunity is flexible in commitment, duration, and remote/onsite arrangements depending on project and host team needs, with start dates generally ranging from August through December 2026. Candidate Eligibility

Applicants must currently be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Linguistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Natural Sciences, or similar technical fields. Experience in a computer science domain such as Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Human-Computer Interaction, Quantum Information Science, Software Engineering, or related areas is essential. Candidates should ideally be full-time students planning to return to their degree program post-internship, located in the US. Prior research experience through internships, full-time roles, labs, or scholarly publications is favored. Proficiency with programming languages like Python, Java, JavaScript, or C/C++ is preferred.

Role Description

The Student Researcher participates in projects aimed at addressing significant real-world challenges through innovative solutions, scientific advancement, and technology breakthroughs. Projects vary by duration and location but require the student to remain in the specified country. Research teams span Google DeepMind, Google Research, Google Cloud, and other divisions, leveraging foundational computing research and state-of-the-art AI development across diverse disciplines.

The base salary range in the US for full-time equivalents is approximately $98,000 to $131,000, varying by role, level, and location. Note that this figure excludes bonuses, equity, or additional benefits. Salary specifics will be provided during hiring based on location and experience.
