About the company

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform that helps businesses accept payments, expand revenue, and launch new opportunities. From major enterprises to fast-growing startups, millions of businesses rely on Stripe to power commerce. The company’s mission is to expand the GDP of the internet, creating a chance to support the global economy at scale.

About the team

The Risk Data Science team develops the data foundations, models, and measurement systems that support Stripe’s risk and product decisions. Their work spans underwriting, reserves, merchant interventions, and enablement efforts. The team is entering a new stage as Stripe expands risk capabilities into products for platforms and connected accounts, and this role will help define the data direction for that evolution.

Role overview

Stripe is hiring an experienced data analyst to lead the data strategy for its risk-as-a-product offering. You will shape the metrics, data products, and analytical frameworks needed to support risk capabilities at scale. In partnership with Product, Engineering, and Risk leaders, you will help make sure data investments stay aligned with the product roadmap.

You will create the analytical backbone for risk decision-making by designing metrics, pipelines, and data products. A major part of the role is to establish a trusted core set of north star and operational metrics, make them reliable and well documented, and ensure they are visible to the right teams. You will also build and support the infrastructure that keeps those metrics accurate as the product and data environment changes, including ownership models, regression alerts, and scalable pipelines.

Another key responsibility is improving Stripe’s experimentation approach for risk. You will define what is tested, how outcomes are measured, and how learnings are applied. This includes evaluating the effect of changes to risk policies, merchant journeys, and risk models across different merchant groups.

In addition, you will mentor analysts on the team and help set a high bar for technical quality and strategic thinking. You will coach both junior and senior analysts on how to break down ambiguous questions, build high-impact analyses, and present insights effectively to senior stakeholders.

Minimum qualifications

The company is looking for candidates who meet the core requirements below. If you satisfy these, you are encouraged to apply.

  • At least 10 years of experience in data analytics, data science, or a related field
  • Proven experience defining and guiding data strategy across multiple teams
  • Background in designing experimentation frameworks or measurement systems for complex, multi-variant environments such as risk policies, pricing, or marketplaces
  • Advanced SQL skills and working proficiency in Python
  • Strong ability to turn unclear business questions into structured analysis and explain results to executive audiences
  • Experience creating and scaling data products such as metrics systems, pipelines, and dashboards that function as operational infrastructure
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across engineering, product, and business functions without formal authority
  • Comfort using AI tools to speed up model development, analysis, and coding

Preferred qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or another technical discipline
  • Experience working in risk, trust and safety, or a similar domain, with familiarity in fintech risk
  • Experience building data for platform or product offerings where data is exposed as part of the product itself, not only for internal use
  • Knowledge of causal inference and A/B testing in settings where randomization is limited by risk constraints

Work arrangement

This position can be performed from an office or from a remote location that is at least 35 miles, or 56 kilometers, from a Stripe office.

If you are based in an office, you are expected to spend at least 50% of each month in the local office or with users. This is intended to balance in-person collaboration and learning with flexibility for individuals and teams.

If you work remotely, you are expected to work primarily from home rather than from a Stripe office. You may still travel to the office for team meetings, onsite sessions, meetups, or events. Stripe does not pay relocation costs for moves to a remote location.

Pay and benefits

The annual US base salary range for this role is $179,000 to $268,400. For sales roles, this would represent the OTE range including both commission or bonus targets and base salary; however, this role is not described as a sales position. The final range may vary by level and will be refined during the interview process based on experience, qualifications, and location. Candidates outside the US may request the salary range for their location during interviews.

Additional compensation and benefits may include equity, company bonus or sales commission bonuses, a 401(k) plan, medical coverage, dental coverage, vision coverage, and wellness stipends.
