Sourcing Operations Manager

About the Role

Google invests hundreds of millions annually in vendor relationships, sourcing everything from hardware and software to professional and facility services globally. As a member of the Supplier Sourcing team, you will help coordinate procurement activities by collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to achieve optimal purchasing outcomes. You will guide complex sourcing initiatives including multi-step sourcing workflows and innovative electronic auctions to finalize high-value, high-risk proposals and contracts. By translating business needs into market-competitive terms, you will help secure favorable rates for Google.

The Google Procurement Organization (GPO) drives value by enhancing procurement speed, efficiency, and security across the company, partnering closely with internal stakeholders to provide fit-for-purpose solutions and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous career development. Within GPO, the Commercial Operations team ensures scaled operational support and excellence in sourcing, supplier, and contract management.

In this capacity, you will oversee and improve sourcing operations, leveraging strategic partnerships and resources to achieve scalability, cost-effectiveness, and operational excellence for Google's procurement functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand and define sourcing needs and strategic objectives.
• Manage end-to-end sourcing processes for goods and services, including vendor identification, request for proposal development, negotiation, and contract finalization.
• Engage and manage external vendors or service providers to perform specific sourcing functions, overseeing their performance to ensure compliance with organizational goals and quality standards.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships through performance assessments, contract compliance monitoring, and resolution of issues.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs and support negotiation strategies together with partners to secure favorable pricing and contract terms.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain and Operations Management, Finance, Business, or equivalent experience.
• At least 10 years of experience in multifaceted procurement roles covering strategy development, execution, and sourcing functions.
• Minimum 5 years managing category strategies and sourcing teams handling multiple indirect goods and services categories.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven experience managing sourcing functions, including outsourced sourcing tasks, with a focus on aligning performance to organizational and quality standards.
• Familiarity with sourcing and contract management technologies such as eSourcing platforms, contract management systems, and spend analysis tools.
• Competence in using data visualization and reporting tools to generate meaningful insights and analyze sourcing performance.
• Understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks governing sourcing activities and ensuring compliance.

Additional Information

Applicants can express their preferred work location from Chicago, IL or Sunnyvale, CA in the USA. Individual compensation is based on job-relevant skills, experience, and education. The approximate U.S.-based salary range is $164,000 to $240,000 USD annually, with a 20% bonus target, equity, and benefits package.
