Senior Radiation Safety Officer

Overview

The role involves devising and implementing comprehensive safety frameworks specific to radiation safety for QatarEnergy. The objective is to ensure radiation source risks are minimized to ALARP levels, comply with statutory and corporate mandates, and align with best industry practices.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance and develop robust radiation safety standards and procedures.
• Ensure thorough application and enforcement of radiation safety measures across all operations.

Experience and Skills Required

• At least 15 years of relevant experience in radiation safety roles.
• Minimum 5 to 10 years of professional involvement in the oil and gas or petrochemical sectors, focusing on radiation safety management.
• Preferably holds certifications such as Chartered Safety Professional (CSP), NEBOSH International General Certificate, NEBOSH Diploma, or comparable qualifications.
• Must possess a valid national license as a Radiation Protection Officer (RPO).
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills to influence diverse stakeholders and lead teams.
• Capacity to operate effectively in diverse, multicultural environments and collaborate with cross-functional groups.
• Strong analytical capabilities to detect trends, evaluate risks, and identify causes.
• Sound judgment for complex problem-solving and decision-making related to radiation safety.
• Proficient report writing skills and excellent command of English; Arabic language knowledge is an advantage.

Educational Background

Possession of a BSc or BEng degree in Engineering or Science is mandatory.
