Company Overview
Swimply is a digital marketplace connecting homeowners with their local communities, enabling them to rent out their unique spaces by the hour. Beginning with swimming pools, which has generated over $50 million in revenue within four years, Swimply is expanding into new categories such as hot tubs, tennis courts, and homes to create a novel local experience platform akin to Airbnb.
Role Summary
We are looking for a Senior Product Designer who will blend design and marketing expertise to lead end-to-end product experiences aimed at delighting hosts and guests while fueling measurable growth. This role involves defining Swimply's visual identity across both web and mobile platforms and strategically crafting product marketing stories that convert users into active participants.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the complete design process for web and mobile features, from initial research and wireframing to producing high-fidelity user interfaces and delivering final shipped products.
- Collaborate with Growth, Product, and Operations teams to iteratively test and refine user flows enhancing conversion, user activation, and retention metrics.
- Contribute to product marketing by developing go-to-market narratives for new functionalities, including positioning, messaging, and campaign designs.
- Develop and maintain Swimply's design system to ensure consistency across various user journeys and partner interactions.
- Partner closely with Product, Operations, and Engineering teams to align design decisions with company growth and branding objectives.
- Advocate on behalf of both hosts and guests by leveraging user research and testing to make well-considered design tradeoffs.
Why This Role is Crucial
As Swimply rapidly expands, the design function is key to differentiating our brand and product. Being the inaugural in-house design hire with product marketing skills, you will craft the visual language and storytelling that will drive the company's next phase of growth, targeting over $100 million in future bookings and beyond.
Candidate Requirements
- 6 to 8 years or more of experience in product design with a portfolio showcasing consumer-facing digital experiences.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing solutions focused on conversion, growth, and storytelling beyond mere aesthetics.
- Experience in product marketing, including positioning, messaging, and integrated campaign design, either as part of a hybrid role or via close collaboration.
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma and a working knowledge of analytics or experimentation tools like Mixpanel and Amplitude.
- Comfort operating in fast-moving startup settings with a bias towards shipping and iterative improvement.
- Bonus: Experience designing for two-sided marketplaces or platforms driven by communities.
Benefits and Perks
- Competitive compensation including cash and equity components.
- Robust medical, dental, and vision insurance, combined with unlimited paid time off.
- A remote-first workplace culture open to candidates in the U.S. and Canada.
- Access to leisure activities such as pools and pickleball.
- The chance to collaborate directly with the company founder within a thriving marketplace serving over two million guests annually.
