Overview
Join a leading Irish main contractor renowned for excellence in commercial, residential, healthcare, education, and mixed-use projects. This full-time, permanent position is based in Galway, Limerick, or Dublin and offers an exciting career opportunity as the company expands its prestigious project portfolio nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Take charge of the entire tendering cycle, delivering detailed and accurate cost estimates across varied construction projects.
- Interpret and analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documents to formulate precise cost plans.
- Manage the tender process from initial enquiry through submission, ensuring commercial competitiveness.
- Identify and evaluate project risks and opportunities to inform pricing strategies effectively.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Engage with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to clarify scope and technical aspects.
- Present detailed tender reviews, commercial insights, and recommendations to senior management.
- Develop and maintain estimating databases, cost benchmarks, and historical records.
- Mentor junior estimators and contribute to enhancing the estimating function.
- Participate in pre-tender, post-tender, and client meetings as necessary.
Candidate Profile
- Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related fields.
- Between 5 to 10 years of experience in construction estimating roles.
- Sound knowledge of the Irish construction market involving subcontractors, suppliers, and procurement processes.
- Proven track record in preparing competitive tenders across multiple sectors.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, specifications, and Irish Building Regulations.
- Excellent commercial acumen with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency with estimating software tools and Microsoft Office applications.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, analytical, and organizational abilities.
- Capacity to handle multiple deadlines and perform effectively in dynamic environments.
