Job Overview

The role involves maintaining rigorous quality control over incoming logs, managing the log yard and inventory, and ensuring adherence to regulations by drivers delivering logs to LP facilities.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support the Scale House Team under the scaler's guidance to accurately weigh log trucks on arrival and departure.
• Verify drivers comply with relevant rules and possess appropriate licenses and certifications.
• Inspect incoming logs to confirm adherence to government and LP quality standards and communicate issues with Forest Resources if standards are unmet.
• Operate scaling software efficiently.
• Assist in log yard inventory management.
• Coordinate with off-loaders and truck drivers to maintain precise inventory records.
• Generate daily and weekly reports summarizing relevant operational data.
• Ensure all tasks comply with safety regulations and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

• Understanding of LP green end log requirements.
• Familiarity with the LP environmental management system, forest management, and wood fiber utilization.
• Knowledge of governmental logging regulations, utilization standards, log scaling regulations, and grading rules.
• Strong mathematical aptitude.
• Awareness of safety and environmental regulations applicable to the role.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with computers and relevant software.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma is mandatory.
• Possession of a valid Weighmaster license or certificate.
• Current and valid driver’s license.
• Proven experience in weighing and scaling logs.

Work Environment

• Work is conducted in a plant setting or outdoor environment.
