SAP BTP Backend Developer

Role Overview

This position involves developing and securing comprehensive SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) applications integrating CAP domain models, Fiori Elements UI frameworks, security via IAS and AMS, and connectivity with S/4HANA and CPI services.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP) applications including CDS domain modeling with entities, associations, compositions, views, and projections.
• Deliver draft-enabled OData V4 services featuring entity lifecycle management such as active/draft models, transaction controls including save and discard, conflict resolution, and late ID generation, compatible with Fiori Elements draft UI conventions.
• Develop custom service logic using Node.js and TypeScript handlers supporting create, update, delete operations, and specialized actions.
• Design normalized, scalable data architectures separating master data, transactional data, and technical entities, optimizing for replication of S/4HANA data on SAP HANA Cloud via external schemas and synonyms.
• Apply performance optimization techniques like HANA push-down, effective indexing, pagination, and optimized use of projection versus consumption views.
• Create Fiori Elements V4 applications (List Report, Object Page, Analytical apps) backed by CAP services, utilizing CDS and OData annotations to enable rich UI features such as inline editing, mass actions, value helps, side effects, draft handling, and message processing.
• Manage manifest.json, app routing, data sources configuration, model binding, app launchpad/work zone embedding, and embedded S/4 Full Launchpad integrations.
• Implement role-based UI adaptations through Authorization Management Service (AMS) policies to control field visibility and UI actions.
• Configure and operate standalone approuter instances managing routing, destination settings, HTML5 application repositories, and integration with BTP destination services.
• Integrate secure authentication mechanisms based on Identity Authentication Service (IAS) with OAuth2 grant types, principal propagation, and support app-to-app single sign-on strategies.
• Ensure authentication and authorization enforcement at both backend CAP services and frontend Fiori applications.
• Configure applications within BTP Work Zone including tile setup, target mappings, and role collections while collaborating with identity management for roles assignment.
• Consume S/4HANA APIs (OData/REST) efficiently via BTP destinations and design robust integration interfaces between CAP services and CPI for data exchange including validation, status tracking, asynchronous processing with correlation IDs, callbacks, and error handling.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests for CAP based services.
• Implement comprehensive technical and audit logging, correlation ID propagation, and communicate errors effectively from OData V4 services to Fiori Elements UI.
• Manage environment-specific configurations including VCAP services, bindings, and destination parameters.
• Possess knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and experience working with GitHub for version control and continuous integration.
