The Gas Power division develops efficient natural gas technologies and decarbonization solutions. FieldCore, as part of Gas Power One Field Services, delivers installation, maintenance, and upgrades for power generation equipment enabling reliable and affordable energy infrastructure.

Role Overview

The Rigger II role specializes in moving exceptionally heavy and challenging loads that ordinary equipment cannot handle. Responsibilities include installation and maintenance of power plants and oilfield pumping units, operating heavy rigging tools and ensuring safe, precise movements of equipment. Assignments are directed by crew chiefs or supervisors, but the role also supports organizational values and vision.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide signals or verbal directions to workers handling hoisting and load movements to guarantee safety.
• Test rigging gear for safety and dependability.
• Secure loads with appropriate rigging using hand and power tools.
• Choose rigging equipment such as slings, shackles, chokers, winches based on load parameters and work conditions.
• Control heavy equipment navigation through confined or narrow spaces utilizing specialized equipment like chain falls and gin poles.
• Manipulate suspended loads through tilting, dipping, and turning using multi-point suspension techniques to avoid obstacles.
• Operate rigging lines and hoisting tools to support and move heavy machinery and materials.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper condition of machinery surfaces and components.
• Attach pulleys and blocks safely to fixed overhead structures using bolts and clamps.
• Disassemble and store rigging equipment properly after use.
• Apply correct rigging apparatus and techniques to ensure safe lifts.
• Work effectively in varying weather conditions including extreme temperatures and wind.
• Integrate safety considerations in all job functions and influence others to follow safety protocols.
• Support and utilize Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for every task and assist team members in their development.
• Participate in all scheduled safety meetings and training sessions.
• Engage in periodic equipment and tool audits.
• Identify unsafe acts and near miss events.
• Assist in investigations of safety and environmental incidents to determine root causes.
• Comply with STOP observation and near miss reporting programs.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Travel frequently, both domestically and internationally.
• Be available to work holidays, weekends, and overtime per field assignment demands.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven competence in the rigging trade, able to fulfill all job requirements successfully.
• Advanced practical skills applying core rigging concepts and procedures in specialized fields.
• High school diploma coupled with mechanical experience such as carpentry, crane operation, or lifting equipment handling.
• Preferred (not mandatory) certifications related to rigging and moving auxiliary equipment.

Preferred Attributes

• Familiarity with power generation equipment including gas and steam turbines and related auxiliaries.
• Expertise selecting the appropriate rigging tackle for safe and specified load lifting.
• Knowledge of identifying specific rigging hardware such as shackles and beam clamps.
• Understanding lifting sling and wire color coding systems.
• Comprehension of mandatory emergency stop signals for safety.
• Ability to interpret and implement safe work systems and approved rigging method statements.
• Experience operating overhead cranes, either via pendant, cab, or remote controls.
• Practical knowledge of operating forklifts, telehandlers, scissor lifts, cherry pickers, and tractors fitted with lifting arms.
