Job Summary
The Internal Medicine Registrar specializing in telemedicine is a physician undergoing advanced training to provide comprehensive adult medical care through online platforms. This role merges clinical expertise and digital health tools to ensure accessible, patient-centered, and efficient care, while supporting continuous professional growth under supervision.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct remote consultations for acute, chronic, and complex adult medical conditions using video, phone, and secure messaging.
- Provide thorough and high-quality medical evaluations and management plans.
- Ensure responsible prescribing and appropriate use of digital monitoring devices during patient care.
- Manage ongoing care for patients with multisystem diseases through structured telemedicine pathways.
- Monitor patient adherence to treatment and track health outcomes through remote patient monitoring technology.
- Schedule and coordinate follow-ups, arranging for in-person visits as needed.
- Create and update personalized treatment plans, including medication, referrals, and lifestyle advice.
- Document clinical findings and management plans diligently in electronic patient records.
- Collaborate with consultants, subspecialists, and allied healthcare workers via digital platforms to coordinate care and multidisciplinary discussions.
- Deliver virtual health education and counselling that empower patients in their self-care.
- Promote preventive healthcare through digital outreach like screenings and vaccination reminders.
- Apply principles of value-based care to enhance efficiency and improve patient satisfaction.
- Communicate clearly with patients and families about diagnoses, treatment choices, and follow-up plans.
- Adhere strictly to medical regulations, ethical standards, and quality guidelines applicable to telehealth and in-person medical practice.
- Maintain current knowledge of telemedicine regulatory requirements and participate in ongoing quality improvement and clinical audits.
- Prepare accurate reports for audits and inspections, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Pursue continual professional development by attending conferences, workshops, and online courses related to internal medicine and telehealth advancements.
- Maintain expertise with telehealth platforms, including video conferencing, secure messaging, and medical record integration, while coordinating with IT teams for troubleshooting.
- Champion patient safety by implementing safety protocols, reporting risks, educating staff, and addressing patient feedback effectively.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient care delivery and communication across providers.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Medical degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Completion of residency training in Internal Medicine from an accredited program.
- Board certification or equivalent qualification in Internal Medicine.
- Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) classification and registration as an Internal Medicine Registrar.
- Demonstrated experience in an Internal Medicine Registrar or similar position.
- Knowledge and experience in population health management and value-based care models.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and telemedicine technologies.
- Strong clinical reasoning and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build trust with patients and collaborate with colleagues.
- Adeptness in managing multiple priorities in a dynamic clinical environment.
- A commitment to lifelong learning and staying current with advancements in internal medicine and telehealth.
Education
Degree in Medicine and Surgery is required.
