Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned R&D Program Manager to oversee critical research and development projects for clinical and bio product lines from conception to launch. This role demands meticulous organization, goal orientation, and strong leadership to handle complex cross-functional initiatives while adhering to company design and quality control processes. The position operates in a hybrid work setting based in Waltham, MA with four days onsite and one day remote per week.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Direct management of new product development and sustaining engineering projects across entire product lifecycles.
• Create and oversee project timelines, budget allocations, and priorities for multiple concurrent projects.
• Collaborate with Product Management to advance critical R&D initiatives for both new and existing products.
• Identify and mitigate risks through contingency plans and escalate critical issues as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with Nova’s Design Control and Stage Gate protocols.
• Take the lead in Ecosystem and Core Team meetings to foster alignment and collaboration among cross-functional groups.
• Resolve resource allocation challenges to maintain project schedules and budget constraints.
• Support addressing R&D concerns that affect product approval or market release.
• Promote continuous improvements and alignment of PMO and Design Control processes.
• Mentor junior PMO team members and cultivate best practices organizationally.

Experience and Qualifications

• Over 10 years of experience in medical device development, including knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software engineering systems.
• Proven track record as a program manager or technical lead in an R&D setting managing complex multi-stakeholder projects.
• Preferred experience with clinical whole blood meters and blood gas analyzers.
• Proficiency with project management software such as MS Project, Jira, Smartsheet, and Confluence.
• Established skills in budget management, risk analysis, and strategic planning.
• Experience supporting regulatory submissions for FDA and IVDR.
• Strong leadership capabilities, excellent communication, and effective problem-solving skills.

Work Environment and Physical Conditions

• Ability to work extensively at a computer and remain engaged for long periods.
• Capability to lift and carry items weighing 25 to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Effective communication via phone, video conferencing, and written correspondence.
• Willingness to move around the office for meetings or accessing resources.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary target between $130,000 and $160,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
