Job Overview
The Quantity Surveyor will handle quantity take-offs and cost estimation for tenders and projects, overseeing budgets to keep expenditures within planned limits throughout the project lifespan.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quantity take-offs and develop accurate cost estimates for construction tenders and projects.
- Manage and monitor project budgets to ensure alignment with financial plans.
- Analyze results of tender submissions and compile detailed reports for senior review.
- Prepare tender pricing documentation and oversee timely tender submissions.
- Evaluate and select qualified suppliers and main contractors, fostering strong working relationships.
- Manage order processing and ensure prompt delivery of materials and services.
- Quantify work progress at various stages to prepare periodic payment requests.
- Prepare and follow up on monthly progress claims punctually.
- Support Senior Quantity Surveyor with contractual matters, including extensions of time, loss and expense claims, and terms and conditions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations such as the Security of Payment Act and adhere to ISO and company standards.
- Arrange and participate in meetings, travel to sites to track project progress.
- Provide alerts related to cost escalations.
- Facilitate communication between internal departments and external parties such as subcontractors, suppliers, tender teams, and finance.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess a degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- Have a minimum of three years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction sector.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills to deliver precise cost estimations.
- Comprehensive understanding of construction techniques, materials, and industry standards.
- Willingness to work overtime during critical project phases.
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform effectively under pressure.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Result-driven mindset suited for fast-paced, multitasking environments.
- Availability to respond to emergency calls related to projects outside regular working hours.
- Readiness to travel to project sites and attend relevant meetings as necessary.
- Capable of working independently without supervision.
- Open to performing additional duties assigned by management as needed.
- Committed to a six-day working week.
Work Schedule
This role requires working six days per week with the flexibility to undertake overtime and emergency calls when the situation demands.
