Role Overview
Due to ongoing expansion, the company is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team. This role entails managing commercial aspects from procurement through to final accounting on major projects, ensuring cost control, contract management, and stakeholder collaboration throughout the project duration.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate subcontractor procurement, tenders, and negotiation of contracts.
- Manage subcontractor accounts including valuations, variations, and final account settlements.
- Generate comprehensive cost reports, forecasts, Cash Value Reports (CVRs), and cash flow updates.
- Ensure maintenance of precise commercial documentation and site measurements.
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate commercial risks and capitalize on opportunities.
- Provide contractual and commercial guidance to project teams.
- Contribute to tender preparations and assist with bid support activities.
- Provide mentorship and supervision to junior quantity surveying personnel.
- Develop and maintain robust relationships with clients, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or a closely related construction field.
- Demonstrable experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction sector.
- Strong expertise in cost management, valuations, contract variations, final accounts, and commercial reporting processes.
- Hands-on experience with subcontract procurement, contract management, forecasting, CVRs, and cash flow control.
- Working towards or eligible for professional designations such as CIOB, RICS, or equivalents.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial and contractual principles under construction contract law.
- Proficient in commercial management and reporting software.
- Experience working on large-scale Design & Build projects worth over €15 million/£15 million.
- Familiarity with contract law including claims handling and dispute resolution.
- Prior experience in mentoring or overseeing junior commercial staff members.
