Role Overview

We are seeking a Project Coordinator to act as the central organizer for our institutional partnership project pipeline. This position involves managing active projects from Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) execution through system energization, coordinating efforts among internal engineering teams, external EPC partners, roofing contractors, tenants, and institutional partners. This role does not involve making engineering or financial decisions but focuses on maintaining up-to-date knowledge of project statuses, assigning responsibilities, and monitoring progress. The Project Coordinator ensures timely communication, tracks deadlines, and prevents deprioritization without intentional decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain an all-encompassing project tracker for active projects, from PPA execution through construction completion and permission to operate (PTO).
  • Monitor critical milestones including interconnection application submissions and approvals, permitting progress, roof inspections and re-roofing coordination, equipment procurement, construction schedules, and PTO.
  • Provide consistent status updates to internal leadership and proactively identify risks or delays.
  • Ensure institutional partnership projects remain prioritized and visible amidst shared team resources.
  • Coordinate scheduling and communication among engineering teams, EPC partners, roofing contractors, and tenants concerning access and deliverables.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for routine project status queries from institutional partner teams.
  • Schedule and document project meetings, following up to guarantee completion of action items.
  • Communicate construction logistics, site access protocols, and timelines to tenants.
  • Assist with the interconnection application process by tracking submissions, utility responses, and necessary documentation.
  • Monitor permitting status across jurisdictions and ensure EPC partners adhere to timelines.
  • Coordinate roof inspections and oversee completion of re-roofing prior to solar installations.
  • Manage construction-phase documentation appropriately.

Candidate Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in project coordination, project management, or related positions; experience in solar, construction, or energy sectors is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Outstanding organizational capabilities to track multiple simultaneous projects across various states and contracting parties.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with internal teams, external partners, and clients.
  • A proactive approach to follow-ups ensuring timely completion and response to deliverables.
  • Competence with project management and tracking software such as Excel, Smartsheet, or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Preferred experience includes solar or renewable energy project management, familiarity with utility interconnection and commercial permitting processes, prior work with institutional clients or large real estate portfolios, and comfort in a small, flexible team environment where ownership is valued.

What We Provide

  • A pivotal position within a rapidly growing institutional solar program nationwide.
  • Insight into the complete solar project development lifecycle from contract signing to energization.
  • A small, collaborative team environment where your work has immediate visible impact.
  • Opportunities for career growth into project management roles as the program expands.
  • Work location in San Diego, California.
