Role overview
This position sits within the purchase function at Larsen & Toubro in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The role focuses on end-to-end procurement execution for site-based category items, with strong use of SAP/ERP systems and coordination across internal teams and suppliers.
Key responsibilities
- Draft and circulate RFQs to suppliers.
- Follow up for offers and ensure vendor responses are received on time.
- Review quotations and prepare commercial bid evaluation documents.
- Discuss pricing and commercial terms with vendors, and place orders for project materials within schedule and budget limits.
- Create and release purchase orders in SAP in line with agreed terms and conditions.
- Track post-order progress and monitor supplier execution.
- Make sure supplier invoices are submitted against GRN and support timely payment processing.
- Handle supplier change orders, delivery extensions, and purchase order closure, while sharing updates with relevant cross-functional teams.
- Coordinate with suppliers for repair or replacement of materials whenever needed during item usage.
- Compile procurement-related risks and support mitigation efforts.
- Follow SOPs and other internal procedures without deviation.
- Maintain supplier performance evaluation records in the system.
- Collect supplier documents in time for insurance claim processing, when required.
- Assist the Cluster Materials Manager with rate contract agreements for identified items and support their execution.
- Help identify and develop new vendors.
