Procurement Engineer - Electrical

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Engineer specializing in Electrical, with a robust background in MEP or main contractor environments, to manage the sourcing and acquisition of electrical and mechanical materials for construction projects in the UAE. The role demands ensuring technical standards, cost-effectiveness, and timely procurement through efficient supplier management and interdepartmental coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage procurement of electrical components including cables, switchgear, distribution boards, panels, lighting, and ELV systems, along with mechanical equipment such as HVAC units, pumps, valves, piping, fittings, FCUs, and AHUs.
• Conduct thorough technical evaluations by reviewing project drawings, Bills of Quantities (BOQ), specifications, and performing bid comparisons for electrical and mechanical packages.
• Prepare requests for quotations (RFQs), assess submitted quotes, negotiate prices, and nurture strong supplier relationships across the UAE.
• Implement cost saving strategies by negotiating competitively, exploring alternative suppliers, and utilizing market benchmarking.
• Oversee the complete procurement lifecycle including purchase requisition review, RFQ issuance, bid analysis, purchase order creation, delivery tracking, and submittal of materials documentation for both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, comparison documents, tracking logs, and schedules using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Zoho.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards from DEWA, ADDC, DCD, Etisalat/DU, and other relevant mechanical authorities.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, quantity surveying, planning, and site teams to ensure procurement activities align seamlessly with project timelines.
• Monitor supplier delivery and performance, resolve any delays, and uphold quality standards throughout the procurement process.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven expertise in MEP contracting and procurement within main contractor settings in the UAE construction sector.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical and mechanical materials procurement, technical assessment, vendor negotiation, and cost management.
• Strong command of ERP procurement modules, documentation best practices, and preparation of comparative analyses.
• Exceptional communication, coordination, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in high-pressure scenarios and meet stringent project deadlines.
