Role Overview
The Group Technical Services (GTS) function oversees Task Forces centered on technical domains including Energy, Kiln Economy, Alternative Fuels & Raw Materials, Maintenance, and Quality. Each Task Force is led by a dedicated Leader who fosters operational excellence, knowledge sharing, and adoption of global best practices across CRH's cement plants.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead CRH's Task Force portfolio to drive world-class operational performance across cement plants.
- Facilitate global knowledge exchange and ensure alignment with company technical standards and policies.
- Collaborate with Task Force Chairs, provide technical advice, and support implementation of improvement roadmaps.
- Offer expert guidance to plant teams while encouraging continuous innovation and performance optimization.
- Participate in Group-level technical initiatives and develop support solutions aimed at enhancing operational outcomes.
- Implement and maintain measurement systems for adoption tracking of best practices.
- Report on development, execution, and impact of technical roadmaps.
- Engage effectively with leadership, plant managers, and specialists across CRH.
- Willingness to undertake international travel as required.
Required Expertise and Competencies
- Comprehensive mastery of cement production processes, equipment, raw material management, and quality control.
- Up-to-date familiarity with global best practices and innovations in cement and concrete sectors.
- Insight into industry challenges including operational, technological, and environmental factors affecting cement manufacturing.
- Ability to provide credible, data-supported advisory to senior leadership and technical functions.
- Strong leadership skills to allocate tasks, facilitate teamwork, and remove barriers to progress.
- Adaptability to dynamically adjust communication style and approach to diverse scenarios.
- Effective communication across multiple channels tailored to audience needs.
- Capability to motivate teams and foster engagement to meet organizational objectives.
Experience and Education
- Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Process, or Mechanical) or Chemistry preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years professional experience in the cement industry.
- Proven expertise in cement manufacturing and alignment with international best practices.
- Experience influencing senior plant managers and cross-functional technical teams.
- Exposure to multicultural work environments is advantageous.
- History of responsibility in operational improvement, troubleshooting, or performance optimization.
