Role overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated nurse to take on the role of Practice Educator. In this position, you will help develop the workforce, strengthen clinical capability and contribute to better patient outcomes, with a strong focus on supporting care closer to home.

You will be responsible for creating, delivering and reviewing high-quality learning programmes for staff working across primary care, community services and the independent contractor workforce. Working with senior nursing leaders, you will make sure education supports service priorities, service change and the delivery of safe, evidence-based and person-centred care.

The role also involves supporting both registered and non-registered colleagues to build confidence and competence, encouraging ongoing learning and helping to create a culture of improvement.

Main duties

Qualifications and knowledge

  • You must be a first-level nurse with current NMC registration as an RGN.
  • A teaching qualification, or equivalent evidence of knowledge and experience, is required.
  • You should be educated to degree level and have specialist clinical knowledge at postgraduate diploma level.
  • Desirable qualifications and knowledge include a PGCE, Practice Assessor/Supervisor status and familiarity with primary care nursing.

Experience

  • Significant experience after registration in primary care or community care is essential.
  • You should be able to analyse data and recognise trends, either through degree-level study or relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of primary and community nursing is required.
  • A proven track record of delivering education for nurses and patients is essential.
  • Desirable experience includes simulation-based education and change management.
