Role Overview
The position of Plant Manager at the Hot Forging Plant entails managing all manufacturing activities to ensure safe, efficient operations that consistently achieve production objectives and quality standards. This full-time, on-site role situated in Pune Division involves planning daily production workflows, overseeing shop-floor functions, optimizing resource allocation, and collaborating with maintenance, quality assurance, and supply chain teams. The manager will spearhead personnel development, drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices, enforce adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory policies, oversee budgeting and KPI monitoring, tackle operational challenges, and support customer demands and audit processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily operations of the hot forging production line ensuring targets are met.
- Manage scheduling, resource optimization, and production monitoring for maximum efficiency.
- Coordinate with maintenance, quality control, and supply chain functions to maintain seamless operations.
- Lead and develop plant staff, implementing leadership strategies to enhance workforce performance.
- Drive lean manufacturing initiatives, promote 5S standards, and foster continuous improvement cultures.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and quality standards.
- Manage plant budgets and track KPIs to inform data-driven operational decisions.
- Resolve production issues promptly and facilitate successful customer audits and requirements fulfillment.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Extensive experience managing plant operations within hot forging, metal forming, or heavy manufacturing industries.
- Expertise in production planning, process enhancement, and resource control to meet volume, quality, and cost goals.
- Familiarity with quality management systems, ISO/TS standards, and automotive component heat treatment processes.
- Proficient in safety management, risk evaluations, and workplace environmental practices.
- Proven leadership skills including team supervision, performance evaluation, and interdepartmental collaboration.
- Hands-on knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S principles, continuous improvement, and utilizing KPIs for decision making.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, production data, and technical documentation with strong analytical skills.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline; advanced degrees considered a plus.
- Exceptional communication skills to engage effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Prior experience in automotive or bearing component manufacturing sectors and familiarity with ERP/manufacturing software preferred.
