Role overview
Join a team focused on high-precision optical manufacturing and supporting challenging, meaningful projects. The role involves hands-on work with optical components and opto-mechanical assemblies, along with careful testing, measurement, and workshop upkeep.
Key duties
- Build knowledge of the methods, tools, and equipment used to produce precision optical parts from different materials.
- Create and fabricate bespoke tooling needed for optical component manufacturing.
- Study job briefs, technical specifications, and engineering drawings to prepare for the production and testing of precise optical parts and opto-mechanical assemblies.
- Work to ensure all outputs meet the required specifications.
- Set up, test, and measure optical parts using metrology and optical test equipment, then accurately capture and interpret the results.
- Support the assembly, integration, alignment, and testing of opto-mechanical assemblies.
- Carry out routine preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, and help keep workshop areas and machinery clean and orderly.
- Take responsibility for personal and team health and safety by identifying hazards, responding appropriately to accidents or incidents, and following workplace H&S policies, procedures, and systems.
- Represent KiwiStar Optics professionally and help strengthen its reputation within the industry and among external stakeholders.
- Perform additional tasks as needed.
