Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Meter Reader based in Waterbeach, Cambridge. This full-time, permanent position involves fieldwork ensuring accurate water meter readings are collected, which helps provide customers with correct billing and excellent service. The role requires independence, customer interaction, and adaptability to outdoor work conditions, supported by a company vehicle and comprehensive benefits.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect water meter readings precisely from customer locations across the region.
• Complete all assigned meter reading schedules monthly to meet Guaranteed Standards Scheme obligations.
• Ensure accurate recording and updating of meter data into company systems.
• Provide professional customer engagement by responding to queries and delivering excellent service.
• Detect and report irregular water usage patterns, possible leaks, or faulty meters.
• Identify and support vulnerable customers appropriately.
• Act as a professional representative of South Staffs Water and Cambridge Water.
• Manage daily schedules efficiently, maintaining high accuracy and customer satisfaction standards.

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of a full UK driving licence.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with customers positively.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a field team.
• Strong focus on detail and accuracy when recording data.
• Flexibility to work outdoors under varied weather conditions.
• Previous experience in a field-based role is advantageous but not mandatory.
