Role Summary
The MEP Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing activities throughout residential construction projects. This position ensures quality work execution, aligns with project timelines, adheres to safety standards, and coordinates efforts between internal teams and external consultants or vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage installation, testing, and commissioning processes for MEP systems in residential developments.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and contractors to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Examine MEP drawings to confirm consistency with project requirements and site conditions.
- Review and validate designs, layouts, and bills of quantities (BOQs) related to MEP systems.
- Identify design issues and propose technical resolutions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and local authority regulations, including NBC and utility norms (BESCOM, TNEB, BWSSB, CMWSSB).
- Supervise MEP contractors and subcontractors, monitoring performance and workmanship quality.
- Approve and certify contractor invoices based on verified progress.
- Conduct inspections at various stages to guarantee quality adherence and safety protocol compliance.
- Develop and monitor MEP schedules aligned with overall project timelines, proactively addressing potential delays with corrective measures.
- Oversee testing and commissioning of electrical, HVAC, fire-fighting, and plumbing systems, ensuring thorough documentation and proper handover.
- Maintain accurate records including drawings, approvals, site directives, and material submissions.
- Generate MIS reports and update stakeholders on project status.
Key Systems Managed
- Electrical components such as HT/LT panels, DG sets, lighting, and earthing systems.
- Plumbing and sanitary installations.
- Fire fighting and fire alarm systems.
- Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
- Sewage treatment plant (STP), water treatment plant (WTP), and overall water management systems.
Qualifications & Experience
- B.E. or B.Tech degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 3 to 8 years of hands-on experience in residential construction MEP projects.
Required Skills
- Thorough knowledge of MEP systems applied to residential building projects.
- Acquainted with local statutory approvals and relevant authority compliance.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and fundamental project management software.
- Strong coordination, interpersonal, and communication competencies.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
