Position Overview
As a Mechanical Designer, you will contribute mechanical design expertise within an automation setting, collaborating closely with teams including Production, Controls, Robotics, and Project Design. Reporting directly to the Mechanical Design Manager and following project guidance from a designated Design Lead, your responsibilities and role level will be tailored according to your experience and skills.
Job Responsibilities
- Junior Level: Support Production and Engineering teams with mechanical designs, create simple jigs and fixtures utilizing SolidWorks, and produce detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of materials.
- Intermediate Level: In addition to junior responsibilities, develop more advanced jig and machine design models, prepare bills of materials for equipment and sub-assemblies, select suitable purchased components for mechanical assemblies, perform load and stress calculations when necessary, and mentor junior designers.
- Senior Level: Build on intermediate duties by preparing detailed jig and machine design concepts drawing from part data and GD&T drawings, and analyze designs and systems to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Engineering degree or Engineering Technologist/Technician diploma/certification (BSc., P.Eng., or CET)
- Experience ranges required per level: junior (entry-level), intermediate (3-5+ years), senior (5-8+ years) specifically working with automated welding and assembly equipment
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks design software
- Competency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and a disciplined work approach
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
- Positive attitude emphasizing safety, health, and wellness, along with active listening and adaptability
- Self-awareness and openness to seek assistance when required
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary ranging between $60,000 and $100,000 annually, with actual compensation dependent on candidate experience and position requirements

Work Environment and Reporting Structure
