Technical Operations Group
The Technical Operations division is tasked with producing drugs for clinical trials and scaling those medicines to commercial production. This includes maintaining state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques, ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards, procuring essential materials, and managing global distribution to patients.
Role Overview
Based on-site at Shanbally, Ringaskiddy, Cork, the Material Operations Biotechnician operates within a two-shift system alternating weekly: 06:30–14:30 and 14:30–22:30, Monday through Friday. Reporting to Materials Operations leadership, the role manages daily warehouse functions such as receiving, shipping, weighing, dispensing, and supports all site operational areas through inventory replenishment and logistical coordination.
The position demands adaptability for shift work and the physical ability to work at heights. It requires a strong team orientation with focus on safety, quality standards, continual improvement, and delivering superior service supporting drug substance manufacturing, packaging, and fill-finish operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a proactive commitment to safety protocols, industrial hygiene, environmental standards, cold chain control, and compliance with GMP and GDP regulations.
- Oversee warehouse tasks including receipt of goods, management with third-party logistics providers (3PL), min-max inventory picking, move orders, cycle counts, put-away, consolidation, and overall inventory control supporting manufacturing, packaging, and fill-finish areas.
- Prepare materials for shipment including wrapping, strapping, paperwork verification, and coordinate with shipping specialists to meet dispatch timelines.
- Sample raw materials and execute weigh and dispense operations for raw material kits.
- Participate actively in team building and uphold departmental, site, and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor alarm systems (Delta V and PI Vision), respond swiftly to equipment alerts and temperature excursions, manage freezer maintenance, and perform scheduled defrosting.
- Coordinate inventory flow efficiently between the site and 3PL providers.
- Serve as a primary user of the Oracle ERP system for material management modules.
- Ensure timely completion of all site material requests and engage in routine inventory, regulatory, and internal audits.
- Draft, review, and update SOPs as needed and accurately record quality documentation in internal systems.
- Attend cross-functional meetings to foster collaboration and ensure the highest service standards to all warehouse customers, meeting agreed service level agreements professionally and courteously.
- Work closely with quality assurance, facilities, manufacturing, supply chain, packaging, and fill-finish teams to optimize material operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
