Role Overview

This position is for a Mainframe Architect with deep experience in mainframe technologies and related databases. The role is centered on designing, supporting, and improving mainframe-based solutions while working closely with internal teams and clients across multiple locations.

Core Technical Requirements

The role requires strong hands-on capability in COBOL, JCL, DFSORT, and DB2. Working knowledge of either DB2 or Datacom is mandatory, along with optional exposure to CICS, PL1, and CoolGen. Experience with Base SAS is considered an added advantage.

Responsibilities and Working Expectations

• Apply mainframe expertise to support development, integration, testing, and implementation activities.
• Understand program structure thoroughly and maintain clear documentation inside programs and in external instructions as needed by the client.
• Coordinate multiple functions using specifications, programming work, test documentation, and implementation guidance.
• Work effectively with internal stakeholders, clients, and cross-functional teams.
• Set up practical work procedures and adjust quickly when project requirements change.
• Maintain a strong grasp of database structures and related mainframe processes.

Additional Skills and Desired Attributes

• Ability to quickly pick up new concepts, programming languages, and techniques.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong communication, presentation, and technical documentation skills.
• Agile Scrum experience is a plus.

Location

The role is based in Chennai, with additional job locations in Pune, Mumbai, and Bangalore.

Compensation

The offered salary range is INR 20,00,000 to INR 35,00,000 per year.
