About Kennedys Finance Team

Kennedys is seeking a Legal Biller to become a vital part of our Financial Operations team. This role involves close collaboration with the Working Capital group, Cashiering, and Finance Database teams to deliver an efficient billing and support service that supports firm revenue, bill preparation, and distribution.

Our Finance department provides timely and precise financial and management data, reporting tools, and operational assistance that uphold the high standards expected by both our internal colleagues and external clients globally. The group includes specialists in Financial Control, Planning and Reporting, Management Accounting, Working Capital, Legal Cashiering, and the Financial Operations Database, with UK teams based in Chelmsford and London and additional presence worldwide.

Role Responsibilities

• Establish and nurture productive working relationships with key personnel within the organization.
• Manage the billing process for several revenue-generating teams effectively.
• Schedule and participate in routine meetings with fee earners and partners to review aged Work in Progress (WIP) and evaluate billing proposals.
• Ensure rigorous adherence to time recording policies by fee earners and accurate entry of disbursements to maintain precise case defense cost management information.
• Verify billing rates and compliance with client service level agreements (SLAs).
• Coordinate with the Finance Database team to keep billing data current and complete, aligning with the legal standards and SLAs.

Required Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated experience in legal billing functions.
• Strong understanding of Value Added Tax (VAT) regulations.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and financial software systems.
• Exposure to Elite 3E platform is desirable but not mandatory.
