Position Overview
We are seeking a mature and dependable individual capable of handling multiple tasks for our Bessborough location. This role demands resilience and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness of the landfill through various duties performed in all weather conditions.
- Collect litter on site and carry out minor custodial functions.
- Assist with daily cleanup and upkeep of the landfill area.
- Perform basic load screening and interact with disposers by communicating site rules and limitations.
- Support other projects and initiatives as needed.
- Maintain and clean bins and recycling sections.
- Conduct routine site maintenance and general tasks.
- Operate light service vehicles safely.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience in customer service roles.
- Previous landfill or waste management experience is advantageous.
- Physical ability to perform frequent lifting, bending, reaching, and standing tasks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills coupled with effective interpersonal abilities and customer service expertise.
- Capable of understanding and executing oral and written instructions of a straightforward, non-technical nature.
- Ability to remain composed and efficient in a busy and potentially stressful environment, maintaining cordial relations with landfill users.
- Valid British Columbia driver’s license, as the site is located 19 kilometers from Dawson Creek.
