Laboratory Assistant - Float

About the Role

Join Dynacare in a part-time contract position as a Laboratory Assistant (Float) where your work directly contributes to improving healthcare. Located in various areas including North York, Toronto, Etobicoke, and Woodbridge, you will be part of a team that values care, compassion, and accurate processing of laboratory specimens.

Key Responsibilities

• Process blood samples and other laboratory specimens with precision and timeliness.
• Accurately input requisitions and test results into the system.
• Provide exceptional customer service to ensure patients have a positive experience, displaying empathy and kindness especially in stressful circumstances.
• Perform venipuncture and other specimen collection such as ECGs, Holter hookups, paternity, urine, drug, and breath alcohol tests following established protocols.
• Sort and prepare specimens and documentation to meet quality and regulatory standards before laboratory transportation.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information securely.
• Contribute to compliance with departmental and corporate quality metrics and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Completion of Secondary School and a Laboratory Assistant or Medical Lab Assistance training program with specialized phlebotomy training.
• A strong customer service orientation with genuine concern for patient health and comfort.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy with the ability to manage anxious patients calmly and compassionately.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and self-manage in a deadline-driven environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail in handling specimens and data entry.

Job Details

• Contract, part-time role for 3 months with guaranteed 15 hours per week.
• Day shift hours from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Sunday.
• Multiple float locations available within Greater Toronto Area.
• One position available.
• Immediate start preferred.
• Hourly pay range from $21.00 to $24.75, with final wage based on experience and education.
