Job Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Infrared (IR) Thermography Engineer to enhance the condition monitoring and reliability of electrical transmission and distribution substations. The role involves conducting detailed infrared inspections, detecting equipment issues, and ensuring all inspections follow stringent safety and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out infrared thermographic inspections at electrical transmission and distribution substations.
- Perform condition monitoring following approved procedures, project specifications, and method statements.
- Identify thermal anomalies, abnormal heating, and detect possible defects in high-voltage electrical equipment.
- Interpret thermographic images and inspection data to evaluate equipment status and suggest corrective measures.
- Immediately communicate critical abnormal findings to the Team Leader.
- Prepare comprehensive thermography inspection reports and technical documentation.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, environmental (HSE) regulations and permit-to-work protocols for high-voltage sites.
- Operate and maintain infrared thermography devices according to manufacturer guidelines to prevent equipment damage.
- Engage in relevant technical, safety, and professional trainings as required.
- Work collaboratively under the direction of the Team Leader within cross-functional teams.
Experience and Skills
- At least 5 years of practical experience in condition monitoring within electrical transmission and distribution substations.
- Practical knowledge and hands-on experience with infrared thermographic inspections of high-voltage electrical systems.
- Deep understanding of electrical transmission and distribution system operations and safety precautions.
- Skilled in analyzing thermal patterns, identifying faults, and producing detailed technical reports.
- Ability to work independently and contribute effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with industry-leading standards and best practices related to electrical asset condition monitoring.
Educational Requirements
Possession of a Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university or technical institute is required.
