Gas Turbine Inspector

About the Role

Sulzer, a renowned engineering company known for its innovation, is seeking a Gas Turbine Inspector to join their team in Abu Dhabi. This role involves overseeing critical inspection tasks within the SASOS workshop to ensure the quality and efficiency of gas turbine maintenance and servicing operations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct bulk and detailed strip inspections of gas turbines.
• Prepare detailed defect and bulk strip reports for engines.
• Perform stage inspections during turbine assembly processes.
• Manage workshop Control Order Files and related documentation.
• Provide support to the Company Quality Assurance representative when the supervisor is unavailable.
• Ensure all measurement tools used in the workshop are properly calibrated and certified in compliance with QMS manuals.
• Develop and update workshop procedures as necessary.
• Identify and source effective alternatives to OEM materials and repair methods.
• Coordinate shipping and receipt of materials to and from SASOS approved vendors promptly.
• Manage sub-contracting activities efficiently to ensure timely progress.
• Secure cost-effective solutions and minimize turnaround times for engine materials requiring repair, overhaul, or replacement.
• Issue certificates of conformity for all materials issued to or purchased by customers.
• Assist with shop floor fitting tasks as assigned by supervisory staff.
• Perform other related duties as reasonably requested by the company.

Education and Experience

• Minimum qualification of NC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; HNC Mechanical Engineering is preferable.
• If formal qualifications are not present, demonstrable relevant experience is essential.
• Previous experience in a comparable inspection role is required.

Knowledge and Skills

• Practical knowledge of industrial gas turbines or power turbines and associated equipment.
• Ability to interpret illustrated parts catalogues effectively.
• Competency in reading and understanding engineering drawings.
