Front End Software Engineer

About the role

As a Front End Software Engineer at Candid Health, you will help build and refine the company’s product experiences, with a strong focus on quality, consistency, and usability across the app. The role combines hands-on product engineering with close collaboration across teams and direct exposure to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to ongoing product development for Candid Health’s platform.
• Maintain a consistent user experience across pages and components in the application.
• Work closely with existing and prospective customers to understand pain points and design practical solutions.
• Help shape the engineering team’s culture and the wider company environment.
• Evaluate and adopt the most relevant front-end libraries and development tools.
• Build internal tooling and improvements that support front-end development operations.
• Handle front-end profiling and monitoring to improve performance and reliability.

Requirements

• A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts/Sciences degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in a software engineering role.
• Practical experience with HTML, CSS, React, TypeScript, and API development.
• Exposure to server-side rendering, GraphQL, Tailwind, Firebase, and Codegen is a plus.
• Strong judgment for user experience and visual design.
• Commitment to high-quality work, while staying pragmatic about trade-offs and delivery.
• Curious, adaptable, and willing to learn as well as share knowledge with others.
• A customer-focused approach to problem solving.
• Clear communication skills, both spoken and written, with the ability to explain complex ideas simply.

Compensation

The expected starting annual base salary for this role is USD 150,000 to 200,000. Actual pay may vary depending on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, interview outcomes, and market conditions. The overall package may also include equity, sales incentives for sales roles, and employee benefits. Candid Health places significant value on equity upside as part of total compensation. The company also notes that it has minimal hierarchy and titles, with a wide range of experience levels represented within roles.
