Job description

Job Overview

This position involves leading investigations related to customs evasion at a professional level, providing solutions to complex problems and managing escalations from junior team members. The role encompasses planning operational activities, overseeing investigators' rotations, and ensuring investigations are conducted systematically to meet organizational objectives aligned with ZATCA's overall strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate existing customs investigation plans and formulate detailed operational plans to guide daily investigative actions, prioritizing focus areas according to organizational needs.
  • Organize and schedule investigator rotations to ensure comprehensive and timely coverage across all investigation areas.
  • Assess incoming investigation cases to classify and prioritize risks, creating cases within the system accordingly.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into customs evasion, fraud, and violations, applying various methodologies such as post-clearance, declaration analysis, valuation, and compliance with restrictions.
  • Review investigative activities to assure consistency and adherence to established guidelines, identifying deviations and recommending adjustments.
  • Supervise investigator performance to ensure alignment with operational plans, providing feedback and implementing corrective measures as necessary.
  • Handle appeals and objections related to investigations by reassessing cases in accordance with defined policies and deadlines.
  • Compile comprehensive final assessment reports documenting findings and ensure integration of outcomes into institutional records for future reference.
  • Report on trends and recurring behaviors pertinent to investigations, maintaining alignment with ethical and quality standards, and share findings with relevant parties.
  • Generate performance evaluations for investigators, highlighting operational weaknesses and identifying training opportunities to enhance investigative processes.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures to maintain structured and consistent operations.
  • Support junior personnel by resolving escalated issues, providing guidance, and ensuring effective workflow management.
  • Escalate complex matters appropriately to ensure timely resolution.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
  • Lead knowledge transfer and training initiatives for junior staff on investigative activities.
  • Set clear task priorities, delegate responsibilities, and monitor progress of subordinate staff.
  • Support junior team members in fulfilling their duties following prescribed policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years’ relevant work experience in investigation or related operations.
