Overview
This role involves leading the development and enforcement of ethical standards around AI systems at Soledad Data Solutions. The Ethics Director ensures that autonomous decision-making technologies are fair, transparent, auditable, and compliant with current and emerging regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and update Soledad's AI ethics framework, policies on model risk, and playbooks for incident management.
- Oversee the AI risk evaluation process for the launch of new products, for customers, and for specific use cases.
- Monitor and interpret AI-related regulations such as the EU AI Act and NIST AI Risk Management Framework, transforming these guidelines into technical requirements.
- Conduct customer trust engagements including risk assessments, audits, and producing assurance documentation.
- Collaborate with research teams to assess bias, perform adversarial testing, and create comprehensive model documentation like model cards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a Juris Doctor degree or equivalent expertise in technology law, policy, or AI governance.
- At least seven years of experience bridging legal/policy domains with practical technology applications.
- Excellent writing abilities capable of creating policies accessible to non-legal professionals.
- Comfort and proficiency in working closely with technical teams and understanding detailed model evaluation reports.
- Familiarity with critical review processes involving privacy, security, and model risk management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with standards such as the NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, or interacting with industry regulators including the FTC, OCC, or FDA.
